An Intelligent Window System For Aircraft Cabin

Reinforcement learning and fuzzy inference system based lighting system 

This paper presents a new approach to developing a personalized lighting system for aircraft passengers using fuzzy logic and reinforcement learning. Mimicking human decision-making for visual comfort is a complex process that involves numerous factors. The study explored three key factors and tested them on different age groups. The controller was designed using a Q-learning fuzzy inference system and was tuned and tested for different learning rates. The results showed the desired output. In the future, other factors that affect visual comfort will be investigated, such as light color and eye conditions. The smart window will also be integrated with the artificial lighting controller to ensure a more controlled cabin environment. Testing will be extended to a wider range of ages. (under review)
